EECS Colloquium
Abstract
Videoconferencing today is a business tool for meetings at a distance.
Providing reliable video, audio, and data communication among several
meeting participants presents a multitude of technological problems:
data compression for efficient signal transmission, acoustic signal
enhancement for echo cancellation and noise reduction, 3-D motion
control of cameras, data communication protocols for efficient
information multiplexing, high resolution displays, and others.
The talk will discuss those engineering problems, present some of the
currently available technologies to solve them, and address new
research directions.
